Are you a traveler? If so, you are aware how important it is to select clothing made out of appropriate fabric to ensure that your travels will be pleasant. Here are different types of fabrics and their characteristics. Look for them when shopping for clothing to wear as you travel.
Scrunch Cloth is a blend of rayon, polyester, and spandex. The texture is slightly puckered and will not wrinkle. It is washes up nicely and dries quickly. You can wash a garment in the evening and be able to wear it in your travels the next day. People who own garments out of this fabric will never travel in clothing made out of anything else!
Tencel is the brand name for a wood-based fiber. (Who would think that wearing bark would be comfortable!) Clothing made out of Tencel drapes nicely, is very comfortable, is wash and wear, and is wrinkle resistant. Shifts, skirts, shirts, and dresses made from this fabric would be good choices to pack when you travel.
Gore-Tex is a great fabric to have in a jacket. It is waterproof yet breathable. Jackets out of Gore-Tex are not bulky, will keep you dry when it rains, and will keep you warm in cool weather.
If you are traveling when it’s cold, fleece tops and vests are wise to take along. The fibers trap air for warmth so you’ll stay snug as a bug. Wool sweaters also keep you very warm. They can wick away moisture from your skin, which helps to keep you warmer. One drawback to wool is that it is too scratchy for people to wear next to their skin.
And speaking of wool, for cold weather travel be sure to pack wool socks. They will keep your feet warm and wick away moisture so that you don’t get blisters. That’s a huge consideration if you will be doing lots of walking.
